Tragedy 2005

On the 24 hours leading up to December 20th 2005, a smoldering fire occured on the heart tapes that protected our water lines from freezing. The temperature that week was rising from sub-zero. The water pipes that folowed the lower roof line ruptured. On the afternoon of December 20th, Pasor Juengling found water "roaring" down over two-thirds of the santuary. The ceiling was collapsing, the organ flooded, two-thirds of the relatively new seating was saturated with water and a new Sacred Music Library was destroyed.

As hundreds of gallons of water wasbeing dried up by a professional service company a strong smell of mildew was occuring. It became so bad in the building that the insurance carrier provided a 8' x 24' modular trailor for us to meet in. Congregational hearlth was at risk using the building. A building engineer was called in and water was found to have ponded below the structure. Floors were unsafe in many areas and not useable. A professional hygiene firm was called in to check for the presence of mold and it was found. The air in the building was bad for health.

We have been working since then to finalize with the insurance company (which we have now) and to raise the amount needed to get rid of the old building and build a new one on the same spot. We have a cookbook that can be purchased for $10.00 to help the building fund. Praise God we have gotten rid of the old building and have leveled off the lot to begin building the new structure. We are still in need of more money to complete the process, but are in belief that God will provide. We are now meeting at the assistant pastors house which is at 1111 N. 23rd st. in Billings, MT.
